Lunchbox Theatrical Productions Limited and David Atkins Enterprises will present the Manila production slated to open July 24 for a limited run at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The run is produced by Citi in association with The Really Useful Group.
Based on T. S. Eliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats," the musical Cats features music by Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Eliot with additional lyrics by original director Trevor Nunn and Richard Stilgoe.
Salonga, who will appear in the show as Grizabella, rose to stage fame for her turn in the musical Miss Saigon. She earned a Tony Award for her performance as Kim. The songstress has also appeared on Broadway in Flower Drum Song, Les Misérables and toured with Cinderella. She also provided the singing voice for Disney's animated films "Aladdin" and "Mulan."
