Lea Thompson will assume the starring role of Sally Bowles in the Roundabout revival of Cabaret beginning Aug. 1.
Thompson recently played Sally Bowles in the touring company of Cabaret, and will replace Joely Fisher in the Broadway revival now playing at Studio 54.
Thompson, who started her career in ballet, has been on stage since she was 10. In addition to her work on the road with Cabaret, Thompson's theatre credits include The Illusion for the Los Angeles Theater Center and Bus Stop at the Pasadena Playhouse. She has performed over 45 ballets and began her film career at 20, eventually starring in 17 films. These include "All The Right Moves," "Red Dawn," "Article 99," "The Beverly Hillbillies," "Howard the Duck" and the popular "Back to the Future" trilogy. Widely known for her starring role in the television series "Caroline in the City," Thompson's other television credits include the films "A Will of Their Own," "The Substitute Wife" and "Unknown Cyclist."
