News Leslie Uggams to Star in Gypsy at Connecticut Repertory Theatre Tony Award-winning actress Leslie Uggams will star as Rose in the Connecticut Repertory Theatre production of the Broadway classic Gypsy, according to the Hartford Courant.

Gypsy will run July 10-20 in the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre. The musical has a book by Arthur Laurents, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and music by Jule Styne.

Additional casting has not been announced.

Connecticut Repertory Theatre's summer Nutmeg season will also feature A Chorus Line (June 5-14) and The Sunshine Boys (June 19-29).

Uggams won a Tony Award for her Broadway debut in Hallelujah, Baby!, and has also appeared on Broadway in On Golden Pond, Thoroughly Modern Millie, King Hedley II, Anything Goes, Jerry's Girls, Blues in the Night and Her First Roman. Uggams earned an Emmy for her work on television's "Fantasy" and appeared as Kizzy Reynolds in the award-winning miniseries "Roots."
