News Lily Tomlin Hopes to Return to Broadway Lily Tomlin, who won the 1986 Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for her one-woman show The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe, hopes to return to The Great White Way.

Tomlin, who can be seen in the new film "Grandma," told Showbiz411, "Yeah, I’m hoping to [return to Broadway]. Oh, I hope to!…I am trying to get Jane [Wagner], my partner, to write me a new show."

No further details were offered.

Wagner penned Search for Signs of Intelligent Life, which Tomlin revived on Broadway in 2000. That production was nominated for Best Revival of a Play. The two of them also collaborated on Tomlin's Broadway debut, Appearing Nitely, in 1977.

Tomlin married Wagner in 2013.
