Tomlin, who can be seen in the new film "Grandma," told Showbiz411, "Yeah, I’m hoping to [return to Broadway]. Oh, I hope to!…I am trying to get Jane [Wagner], my partner, to write me a new show."

No further details were offered.

Wagner penned Search for Signs of Intelligent Life, which Tomlin revived on Broadway in 2000. That production was nominated for Best Revival of a Play. The two of them also collaborated on Tomlin's Broadway debut, Appearing Nitely, in 1977.

Tomlin married Wagner in 2013.
