Lincoln Center Theater has delayed by one week the start of performances for Juan Darien: A Carnival Mass, the Julie Taymor/Elliott Goldenthal musical revival scheduled to play at the newly renovated Vivian Beaumont Theater. According to a spokesman for the production, the Beaumont's renovation may not be completed on schedule, and delaying the start of Juan Darien previews from Oct. 31 to Nov. 6 will give Lincoln Center a buffer period if a scheduling problem materializes.

This autumn, the Beaumont will play host to two productions: Juan will perform Tuesdays to Sunday afternoons, and Spalding Gray's newest monologue, It's a Slippery Slope, will perform Sunday and Monday evenings. Juan was scheduled to have inaugurated the Beaumont by commencing performances Halloween night, followed by Slippery on Nov. 4. However, with Juan's delay, Spalding Gray will now be afforded the honor of opening the home of such past Lincoln Center successes as Anything Goes, Carousel, and Six Degrees of Separation.

For tickets to both Juan and Slippery, call 212-239-6200.
