The soundtrack of Disney's new live-action adaptation of Aladdin is out, which means you can now listen to the movie's newly-written song, "Speechless." Check it out above.
Written by Tony and Oscar winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land) in collaboration with original Aladdin composer Alan Menken, "Speechless," sung by Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine, is the movie's sole new song.
The Guy Richie-helmed film arrives in theatres May 24 and stars Mena Massoud in the titular role alongside Will Smith as the Genie. Rounding out the cast are Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, Navid Negahban as the Sultan, Nasim Pedrad as Dalia, Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders, Alan Tudyk as the voice of parrot Iago, Numan Acar as Hakim, Robby Haynes as Razoul, and Frank Welker (the original voice of Abu and the Cave of Wonders) reprising his role from the original 1992 animated film.
"Speechless" joins the 1992 film's roster of songs, written by Menken with lyricists Howard Ashman and Tim Rice. None of the songs added to the Broadway adaptation—which include several tunes written for but cut from the 1992 film—have been used in the new live-action film.
The stage adaptation of Disney’s Aladdin continues to run on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre, having celebrated its five-year anniversary in January.
