"Liza & David," the weekly reality show that follows the lives of newlyweds Liza Minnelli and David Gest, will premiere on VH1 Nov. 30, Variety announced.
Nancy Stern will be the producer of the show, which has a ten-show commitment from the cable network. As previously reported, many of the episodes will feature a celebrity filled dinner party. The industry paper reports that the first of these dinners-with-the-stars is scheduled for Oct. 14 at the Gest's New York apartment. The series will also include performances from Minnelli and her celeb friends.
In related news: J Records held a bash Sept. 30 to celebrate the upcoming release of Minnelli's new recording, "Liza's Back!" After previewing 45 minutes of the CD to the media-filled crowd, producer Clive Davis welcomed Minnelli to the stage of the Equitable Center. Minnelli was then joined by hubby Gest.
Liza Minnelli, an Oscar winner for her performance in Cabaret, was last on Broadway in a tribute to her late father entitled Minnelli on Minnelli, which she then took on a tour that was cut short due to poor health. Her marriage to David Gest earlier this year has reinvigorated both the star and her career. In addition to her Tonys for Flora, the Red Menace and The Act, Minnelli was awarded a special Tony in 1974 for "adding lustre to the Broadway season." Her film credits include "The Sterile Cuckoo," "Arthur," "New York, New York" and "Stepping Out." The singer is also a Golden Globe and Emmy Award-winning actress.
