News Local Children's TV, Puppets and All, Skewered in NY Fringe Comedy, Wing Ding Doodle Club, Aug. 13-29 The Wing Ding Doodle Club, a skewering of local children's TV, plays the New York International Fringe Festival Aug. 13-29 at the Players Theatre.

Written and directed by Ken Dashow, afternoon radio show host on New York City's Q104.3, the show "chronicles the last, desperate, pathetic days of the longest running (fictional) children’s show in TV history – produced live every afternoon from Channel 6 in Wilkes Barre, PA."

The comedy is a "look at the bottom rung of show business is filled with scheming up-and-comers, fading down-and outers, and a psychotic puppeteer. Is this the end of a legend?!"

Jay & Cindy Gutterman Productions, LLC, produces. The play has been characterized as a cross between "Howdy Doody" and "Dog Day Afternoon."

The cast includes Neal Arluck, Jane Purcell Dashow, Lawrence Lesher, Cole Razzano, Karen Stanion and Bill Weeden. Puppets are by Herb Westphalen.

Wing Ding plays Aug. 13 at 9:15 PM, Aug. 15 at 2 PM, Aug. 18 at 10 PM, Aug. 21 at 4:15 PM, Aug. 23 at 7 PM, Aug. 28 at noon, Aug. 29 at noon. Tickets are $15. The Players Theatre is at 115 MacDougal St. - Studio 3C.
