News London's Full Monty Opens March 12

The Full Monty opens at the Prince of Wales Theatre tonight, March 12, in what promises to be one of the buzziest first nights of 2002.

* British showbiz icon Dora Bryan will play pianist Jeanette Burmeister, and original Broadway cast members Jason Danieley, Andre De Shields, John Ellison Conlee, Romain Frugé and Marcus Neville will re-create the roles they originated in New York.

The lead role of Jerry Lukowski goes to Jarrod Emick, star of New York productions of Miss Saigon and Damn Yankees.

As with the Broadway production, the setting has been changed from the original one (in the best-selling British film) of Sheffield to Buffalo, New York State, a similar steel town to Sheffield.

The musical has a book by Terrence McNally and music and lyrics by David Yazbeck. The creative team for the Broadway production have traveled to London to work on the West End production.
