Previously seen in London when the Donmar Warehouse produced its U.K. premiere in 2002 in a production that featured Gwyneth Paltrow, it premiered on Broadway in 2000, where it won the 2001 Tony Award for Best Play. It also won the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The Menier's new production will be directed by Polly Findlay, who last year directed Antigone at the National Theatre and A Taste of Honey at Sheffield Theatres.

Casting is still to be announced. In the play, "Catherine has cared for her father Robert, a renowned mathematician, through his mental illness for the past five years. His ex-student, Hal, discovers a ground-breaking proof in Robert’s office but the question is posed: who is the real author of this brilliant work? Catherine struggles to solve this as well the most perplexing problem of all: how much of her father's madness – or genius – has she inherited?"

The production will be designed by Helen Goddard, with lighting by Paul Anderson.
