News London's Royal Court Casts Drew in The Ugly One and Ashton in Rhinoceros The Royal Court has announced that Amanda Drew, who just finished a nine-month stint in the BBC soap opera "EastEnders," has been cast in The Ugly One by German playwright Marius von Mayenburg.

The satire on appearance and plastic surgery, directed by Royal Court regular Ramin Gray, opens the Court's International Playwrights season on Sept. 18 at the venue's Jerwood Theatre Upstairs. Previews begin Sept. 13. Drew's stage credits in the West End include Blithe Spirit and Otherwise Engaged. Drew also appeared in the Almeida's 2006 production of Enemies. Meanwhile, Zawe Ashton, currently appearing in Othello at the Globe, will join Benedict Cumberbatch in the cross-cast revivals of Ionesco's Rhinoceros (Sept. 21–Dec. 15) and and Max Frisch's The Arsonists (Nov. 1–Dec. 15) at the Theatre Downstairs.
