Los Angeles' Collective Theatre Company will stage Catherine Butterfield's Joined at the Head Sept. 25-Oct. 24 at the Stella Adler Theatre. The Drama Desk-nominated 1992 plays Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the Adler's Studio Theatre.
Joined at the Head is the story of two Maggies and a Jim. Maggie Mulroney is a successful author who hooks up with her old high school boyfriend Jim and his wife, Maggy. Maggy has always admired Maggie and is sadly stricken with cancer. The expected plot — Jim has an affair with Maggie while Maggy suffers — is turned on its ear in this drama.
Joined at the Head premiered at Manhattan Theatre Club in 1992 and went on to a West Coast premiere at Pasadena Playhouse in 1994. Butterfield is also the author of Life in the Trees, Under My Skin, Snowing in Delphi and The A-V Man.
Denise Barnard directs. She helmed the Sacred Fools' Feet and co directed Grimm! for the company.
Joined at the Head stars Catherine Cronin (Maggy), Leigh Guyer (Jim), Emily Lewis (Maggie), Amy Henry and Shayne Ireland. Tickets are $15. The Stella Adler Theatre is located at 6773 Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood. For reservations, call (323) 993-7190.
