News Lou Diamond Phillips Is Once and Future King of Siam, in North Carolina July 10-18; Patty Goble Is Anna The North Carolina Theatre welcomes Tony Award nominee Lou Diamond Phillips as The King of Siam in The King and I, July 10-18.

NCT has produced in Raleigh's 2,300-seat Memorial Auditorium since 1984, under the leadership of William Jones, executive director and producer. Productions are created for North Carolina audiences using Equity talent from New York, North Carolina and across the country.

Lou Diamond Phillips (internationally known for the movie, "La Bamba") played the King in the Broadway revival of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic in the 1995-96 season. He was Tony Award-nominated for his work.

His North Carolina Anna, the British governess who comes to Siam to teach the King's children, is Patty Goble, a veteran of The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway (Carlotta) and Toronto (Christine and Carlotta).

Casey Hushion directs the staging, with choreography by Tito Hernandez. McCrae Hardy is music director.

The rest of the 2004 season at NCT includes Norm Lewis in Ragtime, Sept. 11-19, and the musical Jekyll & Hyde Sept. 23-31. Chess and My Fair Lady were presented earlier in 2004.
