Set during the Iraq war, the new drama follows "the connection between two childhood friends who are unexpectedly reunited on the eve of one's first tour of duty in Baghdad."
James McMenamin and Daniel Zaitchik reprise their Seattle turns as the childhood friends with original castmates John Procaccino (The Light in the Piazza tour) and Cynthia Lauren Tewes ("The Love Boat") as relatives of the latter. Julie Boyd (Mrs. Packard) and Katie Rose Clarke (The Light in the Piazza) joined the cast for the Connecticut run.
The design team includes John McDermott (scenic), Catherine Zuber (costume), Stephen Strawbridge (lighting) and Stephen LeGrand (sound). Lisa Ann Chernoff serves as stage manager.
The production reteams constant collaborators Lucas and Sher, who worked on the recent Intiman Chekhov adaptation of Uncle Vanya as well as Three Sisters and the musical The Light in the Piazza. Other collaborations include The Singing Forest and The Dying Gaul. Other works from Lucas include Reckless, Prelude to a Kiss, Stranger, Small Tragedy and the screenplays for "Longtime Companion" and "The Secret Lives of Dentists," among others.
Sher's directorial credits include Awake and Sing! on Broadway and The Barber of Seville at the Metropolitan Opera. He is slated to direct the upcoming Broadway revival of South Pacific.
