News   Luxury Florida Hotel Is Setting of New Farce, Suite Surrender, Jan. 13 in Boca Raton
Michael McKeever's Suite Surrender, a new farce set in a Palm Beach, FL, hotel, gets its world premiere Jan. 13-Feb. 17 by the Caldwell Theatre Company in Boca Raton, FL.

This award-winning South Florida playwright's comedy made its play reading debut at Caldwell in 2007. In the play, "it's 1942, and the luxurious Palm Beach Royale Hotel is under siege as two of Hollywood's biggest divas who despise each other vie for the same suite," according to Caldwell. "Mistaken identities, overblown egos, double entendres, and one pampered little lap dog round out this fall-down-laughing comedy."

The cast includes Kay Brady, Elizabeth Dimon, SuEllen Estey, John Felix, Autumn Horne, Michael McKeever, Pat Nesbit, David Perez-Ribada and Tom Wahl.

Joe Warik, who staged the Carbonell Award-winning Lend Me a Tenor, directs.

McKeever has written 15 plays and won two South Florida Carbonell Awards — for The Garden of Hannah List and Charlie Cox. From That Sound You Hear, his first play that premiered in 1996, to Suite Surrender, McKeever's oeuvre includes comedies, dramas, thrillers and farce. Opening night is Jan. 18. Performances play the Caldwell's home at the Count de Hoernle Theatre, 7901 N. Federal Highway, in Boca Raton, FL. For more information, call (561) 241-7432 or visit
