Classic Arts News Lyric Opera of Chicago Offers $20 Tickets to Students The Lyric Opera of Chicago will sell tickets for some performances to college students for $20, the company announced.
The program, called Lyric Opera NExT, is open only to fulltime students. To be eligible, students must register at the company's web site and buy their tickets in advance.

"We believe this program will help cultivate a love of opera in young adults' lives, at a price they can afford," said general director William Mason. "We hope that the students who come to Lyric performances through the NExT program will eventually 'graduate' to single-ticket purchases and subscriptions when they've completed their studies."

Tickets are currently available through the program for the February 9 performance of the company's new production of Rigoletto with Carlos êlvarez and Dina Kuznetsova, and the February 7, 10, and 13 performances of its Der Rosenkavalier with Susan Graham.
