News MAC Nominee Sings Joel's "52nd Street" on 2nd Avenue David Gurland, a 2003 MAC Award nominee for Best Male Vocalist, will perform the music of Tony Award winner Billy Joel this month at Mama Rose's.

On Aug. 9 and 10 Gurland will offer tunes from Joel's Grammy-winning 1979 recording "52nd Street." Gurland will be joined onstage by musical director/songwriter Michael Holland and vocalist/musicians Jerry Smith and Ted Stafford. Show time is 9:30 PM. David Gurland is the recipient of the Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Club’s Hanson Award and the Back Stage Bistro Award for Outstanding Vocalist. He also won a Bistro Award for his self-titled CD. Gurland has performed in a plethora of New York venues, including Downtime, The Bitter End, The Living Room, CB’s Gallery, FEZ, The Firebird, Eighty-Eights, The Triad as well as the Gardenia in Los Angeles.

Mama Rose's is located in Manhattan at 219 2nd Avenue, between 13th and 14th Streets. There is a $15 cover and a two-drink minimum; call (212) 533 0558 for reservations.
