Directed by Epic co-founder and executive director Ron Russell, the limited engagement will continue through May 26. Opening night is set for April 29.
Macbeth stars Obie winner Ty Jones (Enron, The Blacks) in the title role, Melissa Friedman as Lady Macbeth and Tony Award winner Richard Easton (The Invention of Love) as Duncan with Devin E. Haqq, Rhett Henckel, Aimé Donna Kelly, Scott Kerns, Lori E. Parquet, Julian Rozzell, Jr., Godfrey L. Simmons, Jr. and James Wallert.
Every performance of Macbeth will be followed by a post-performance forum led by scholars, authors and thinkers connected to the content of the show as well as members of the cast.
Other members of the creative team include set designer Mikiko Suzuki MacAdams, costume designer Alixandra Gage Englund, lighting designer Cat Tate Starmer and sound designer Ron Russell.
Founded in 2001, Epic Theatre Ensemble is a company of artists and activists dedicated to creating "socially-minded Off-Broadway productions" and connecting these theatrical events to NYC public schools through in-school and after-school residencies. Epic aims to "inspire vital dialogue about social, ethical and political issues and to build thoughtful citizenship in local communities."
