Instead of spending the holidays with Scrooge, the Grinch or even Santa Claus, Washington D.C. residents can travel the world in search of the perfect apple pie with the musical, How To Make An Apple Pie And See The World running Dec. 17-Jan. 7 at the Kennedy Center's Terrace Theatre. Playwright Wendy MacLeod and composer Michael Silversher collaborated on the family-oriented project, directed by SoHo Rep's Lisa Portes.

Based on the 1994 children's story by Marjorie Priceman, How To Make An Apple Pie And See The World follows a headstrong young lady named Marjorie on her world-wide quest for the perfect apple pie ingredients. Along the way she travels through different cultures and meets, among others, a star-struck cow, a kindly wheat picker and a high bred chicken. MacLeod is best known for Sin - a Contemporary Morality Play and The House of Yes - A Suburban Jacobean Play. Siversher composed for Disney's Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea.

Susan Lynskey stars as Marjorie. Also in the cast are David Jackson as Otto, Kate Kiley as Marjorie's Mom, Kahlil Lowry as Reggae and Sarah Ripard as Katma.
