A new play, Mahler's Conversion, starring Antony Sher and by distinguished playwright Ronald Harwood, has announced that its run at the Aldwych is to come to a premature close.
The play, which opened on Oct. 2, has not survived lukewarm reviews, and despite the popularity of Mahler's music - and Harwood is as fond of introducing music into his plays as Sir Peter Shaffer - the story of Gustav Mahler's struggle with his conscience when faced with having to convert to Christianity in order to get the top job at the Vienna Opera House failed to strike enough of a spark with the public.
Mahler's Conversion will close Nov. 2. Tickets are available for all remaining performances.
