The series centers on six-year-old Nina, who grows up in a "vibrant, multicultural neighborhood." Moreno ("West Side Story," The Ritz) will voice Nina's grandmother, with Patinkin ("Homeland," Evita) lending his voice as Mr. Lambert, the local librarian.
"When we created the character of Mr. Lambert, we knew we wanted Mandy to voice the role, as the character’s love for the arts are so true to what we knew about him. It's a privilege to have him on board," said Andrew Beecham, senior vice president, programming, in a statement.
The series will also include the talents of Michele Lepe, who will voice the role of Mami, and newcomer Isabella Farrier, who will voice the role of Nina. "Nina's World" premieres in September.
According to Sprout, "'Nina's World' tells the story of imaginative six-year-old Nina, based on the childhood of the beloved character Nina from Sprout's 'The Good Night Show.' Nina invites viewers to join her and best friend, Star, on a day of fun within her vibrant and colorful neighborhood. Every day transforms into a new excursion around the neighborhood - celebrating family, community, diversity and wonder. Nina embraces the big wonder of every day moments in the world around her."
