News Marc Kudisch, Annie Golden, Alexandra Silber, Josh Grisetti Will Bring Shaw Comedy to Life Gingold Theatrical Group's Project Shaw, which is under the leadership of artistic director David Staller, will kick off its 11th season Jan. 11, 2016, with a reading of George Bernard Shaw's In Good King Charles's Golden Days at Symphony Space’s Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre (2537 Broadway at 95th Street).

In Good King Charles's Golden Days, according to press notes, "takes an irreverent peek through the royal keyhole at politics, sex, and science versus religion—all weaving around the lives of King Charles II, Isaac Newton, Nell Gwynn, and a host of very colorful characters."

The 7 PM reading will feature the talents of Annie Golden (Mrs. Basham), Blair Busbee (Sally), Sam Tsoutsouvas (Isaac Newton), Christopher Innvar (George Fox), Marc Kudisch (King Charles II), Liv Rooth (Nell Gwynn), Alexandra Silber (Barbara Villiers, Duchess of Cleveland), Margaret Loesser Robinson (Louise de Kerouaille, Duchess of Portsmouth), Josh Grisetti (James, Duke of York), David Garrison (Godfrey Kneller) and Eve Bianco (Queen Catherine of Braganza).

According to Staller, "To start our 11th year we’re bringing you some of English history’s most infamous and outrageous characters. Shaw doesn’t leave many hot topics out of this one and adds a few into the mix. The wearing of crown jewels will be optional."

Now celebrating its 11th year, Gingold Theatrical Group's Project Shaw made history in December 2009 as the first company ever to present performances of every one of Shaw's 65 plays (including full-length works, one-acts and sketches). The company is now also including plays by writers who most inspired Shaw to begin his playwriting career, including work by Chekhov, Ibsen, Wilde, Barrie and Harley Granville-Barker.
