News Marian Seldes Is Madwoman of Chaillot at Star-Studded Benefit Tony Award winner Marian Seldes will star in the title role of The Madwoman of Chaillot for a reading to benefit The Acting Company.

Part of the Company's Salon Series, the all-star reading will be held Jan. 17 at the Century Theater. Seldes will be directed by her frequent co-star, The Rivals' Brian Murray, and the cast will also include David Garrison, Mary-Louise Burke, Jeremy Shamos, Matt Lescher, Myra Carter, Laura Esterman, Kathleen Early and Michael Stuhlberg. Acting Company alums Phillip Goodwin, Brian Reddy and David Manis will also be part of the one-night only event. Show time is 7 PM.

The Madwoman of Chaillot, according to production notes, concerns the "increasingly absurd and desperate schemes of Countess Aurelia" (Seldes). The play was written by Jean Giraudoux.

Marian Seldes was recently seen on the New York stage in Beckett/Albee, one of her many turns in the plays of Edward Albee. She won a Tony Award for her performance in Albee's A Delicate Balance and was also Tony-nominated for her work in Father's Day, Deathtrap, Ring 'Round the Moon and Dinner at Eight.

The Acting Company, America's foremost touring repertory theatre and arts education program, was honored in 2003 with the Tony for Excellence in Theater. Founded in 1972 by John Houseman and Margot Harley, its alumni include Kevin Kline, Patti LuPone, Jeffrey Wright, Frances Conroy, Casey Biggs and Jesse L. Martin.
