It plays to Dec. 7 at Amaryllis Theatre Company's home in The Playground at the Adrienne, 2030 Sansom Street.
Directed by Amaryllis Theatre Company's artistic director Mimi Kenney Smith, the production features Christopher Bohan, Susan Giddings, Christopher Imbrosciano and Michael Toner.
"By turns comic and tragic, Rock Doves, a riveting drama by the acclaimed author of Stones in His Pockets, looks at life on the streets of post-'Troubles' contemporary Belfast, where four misfits — a self-styled loony, a prostitute, a transvestite, and a young, would-be hero — unravel a mystery of surprising connections among patriots, informers and the innocent caught in their violent world," according to Amaryllis notes.
Artistic director Smith stated, "We are looking forward to building our audience base with our first full season and are thrilled to celebrate having our own space. We're especially honored to be producing two incredible Philadelphia premieres — this first wonderful new Irish play, and Dying City, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, as well as two new solo performances this season."
For the last seven years, Amaryllis has been producing award-winning, professional theatre. The design team includes Dirk Durossette (set), Jerold R. Forsyth (lights), Millie Hiibel (costumes) and Susan Adelizzi (sound).
