Mark Ravenhill (Shopping and Fucking, Mother Clapp’s Molly House) has written Adding Value. To be performed on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 6 PM, the monologue examines the drastic measures teachers — feeling the growing pressures imposed by government policies and league tables — take to produce results. The panel discussion will be chaired by Genista Mackintosh, and will include Dr. Mary Bousted, General Secretary of the Association of Teachers and Lecturers. Barnaby Kay is the performer, directed by Paul Jepson.

And Jepson is the next writer featured in the series, with We’ve a Problem on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 6 PM. Jepson focuses on the impact of the foot and mouth epidemic on a retired British farmer. Anthony Clark directs, Ewan Hooper is the performer. Mackintosh chairs the discussion, with a panel that consists of the writer Colin Tudge and Tim Bennett, president of the National Farmer’s Union.

On Monday, Oct. 18 at 6 PM, Moira Buffini (Dinner) tells the story of a refugee’s experience within the British asylum system, in The Teacher. Daniel Rosenthal chairs the discussion, with a panel including The Guardian’s Home Affairs editor Alan Travis. Buffini directs.

Gregory Burke (Gagarin Way, The Straits) takes his turn on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 6 PM. Unsecured looks at the problem of middle class debt and asks whether it’s becoming a national addiction. Lucy Pitman Wallace directs.

And, Tanika Gupta (Sanctuary, The Waiting Room) investigates one mother’s experience in the National Health Service with Aaron, on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 6 PM. Jepson directs. Daniel Rosenthal chairs the discussion, with the panel to include Dr. Beverly Malone, General Secretary of the Royal College of Nursing, and Professor Allyson Pollock, Head of Health Policy at University College London. The season is produced by Jepson and Angus MacKechnie. All of these events take place in the NT’s Olivier Theatre, and seats cost either £3.50 or £2.50.
