Mary Beth Fisher and Tom Irwin to Lead Cast of Bruce Norris Premiere at Steppenwolf

News   Mary Beth Fisher and Tom Irwin to Lead Cast of Bruce Norris Premiere at Steppenwolf

Steppenwolf Theatre Company has announced casting for two of its upcoming Chicago premieres: Domesticated, by ensemble member and Pulitzer Prize winner Bruce Norris; and The Flick, by fellow Pulitzer-winning playwright Annie Baker.

Leading the cast of Domesticated is "21 Grams" actor Tom Irwin, an ensemble member since 1979 who has performed in more than 50 Steppenwolf productions, alongside fellow Chicago theatre veteran Mary Beth Fisher, who has performed at both the Goodman and Steppenwolf theatres.

Rounding out the Domesticated cast are Emily Chang, Esteban Andres Cruz, Meighan Gerachis, Rae Gray, Beth Lacke, Millie Langford, Melanie Neilan, Meg Thalken and Karen Woditsch. The production is scheduled to run Dec. 3-Feb. 7, 2016.

In Norris' dark comedy, Irwin and Fisher play a political couple in the midst of a sex scandal. It is billed as a "scathing, wildly entertaining play that investigates gender politics, modern marriage and the sexual mysteries of the animal kingdom."

Steppenwolf has also announced complete casting for The Flick, set to play Feb. 4-May 8, 2016. The four actors tapped to play Baker's acclaimed work are Will Allan, Danny McCarthy, Travis Turner and Caroline Neff, who made her Broadway debut this spring in Airline Highway.

The Flick, which is currently being revived Off-Broadway at the Barrow Street Theatre, takes place in a quiet, run-down movie house, where three disgruntled employees pass the time with cinema trivia and the occasional sharing of their hopes and dreams.  Season subscriptions start at $100 and are available by calling (312) 335-1650 or visiting Steppenwolf.
