The evening, which begins at 7 PM, will celebrate the work of composer Jenny Giering. Vocalists will include Julia Burrows, Brian Golub, Ashley McKay, Barry Shafrin and Shaina Taub.
Giering will be on hand to introduce each of her songs. Chris Kong is the evening's musical director and will accompany each of the performers.
The New Voices series was founded by composer Scott Alan to "showcase some of today's brightest new talent in New York." Alan's debut recording, "Dreaming Wide Awake" — which features performances by Liz Callaway, Stephanie J. Testa has been seen on Broadway in Xanadu, Guys and Dolls, Chicago, Barnum, Marilyn, The Rink, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, On the Town, Marie Christine and 42nd Street, earning Tony nominations for her work in On the Town and 42nd Street. Her other theatre credits include See What I Wanna See, String of Pearls, Lend Me a Tenor, The Vagina Monologues, The Wax, From Above (Obie Award), Lucky Stiff, In Trousers, Tartuffe and On the Town (Obie Award). Testa's screen credits include "Stay," "Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding," "Sleepers," "Whoopi" and "Sex and the City."
Giering's shows include The Mistress Cycle, which received three Jeff Award nominations and will open at the Rattlestick Theater next spring; Crossing Brooklyn, which was produced by The Transport Group and will be part of Bristol Riverside Theater's 2010 America Rising Series. She's working on Saint-Ex with Sean Barry, which was developed at Sundance/White Oak and Theatreworks/Palo Alto and received the 2010 Weston Playhouse New Musical Award. She's also just received a Playwrights Horizons commission with playwright Neena Beeber. Her solo album, "Look for Me," is available at www.jennygiering.com.
