Minchin will play a major recurring role, Atticus Fetch—a character he resembles—on the show's next season.

On the series, Atticus has been drafted to write the music for A Crazy Little Thing Called Love, a musical that will open on Broadway and is adapted from Hank Moody's (David Duchovny) novel "God Hates Us All." Atticus tries to enlist Hank to pen the book for the musical, promising him that together they will turn it into a "rock opera" about "love conquering all."

Matilda the Musical, which recently took home the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical, is slated to open on Broadway in early 2013. Minchin, who wrote Matilda's score, also wrote Darkside, which won the Directors' Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
