Hines (Guys and Dolls, Hot Feet) will direct, choreograph and host the 90-minute revue that will play three performances Feb. 18, 22 and 23, 2013, at the Apollo. The theatre's orchestra seats will be removed and nightclub table seating will be installed throughout, with table service and dancing during the performance.

"The Apollo is a legendary force in the entertainment industry and has been such a big part of my career. So I'm excited to be bringing in an unbelievably talented cast of performers who will help the audience reimagine the theatre's grand history," Hines said in a statement. "This will be a fast-paced show, and because it will be set like a nightclub, the audience will be right in the center of all the action and will be swept up in the thrill of it all."

Hines and his brother, late actor and tap dancer Gregory Hines, both got their start at the Harlem venue when they were children.

Performers include Grammy Award-winning jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater, jazz performer Cecile Salvant, street dancer Storyboard P and tap dancer Dormeshia, backed by a cast of dancers and musicians.

The design team, including Tony-nominated costume designer ESosa, lighting designer Burke Wilmore and music director David Berger, will help transform "the legendary theatre into a nightclub reminiscent of Harlem music clubs of the 1930s and 40s. The show will take the form of an 90-minute, fast-paced revue that will showcase the Apollo's glorious musical legacy."
