Mazzie and pianist Joseph Thalken will perform "Songs of the American Theater" during the first week of the festival, June 13-15 at 9 PM. Mazzie will offer tunes by award-winning composers Stephen Sondheim, Adam Guettel and the late Leonard Bernstein. The program will also feature several other musicians, who will present a mix of classical pieces. The Rome Chamber Music Festival was co-founded in 2003 by American violinist Robert McDuffie and Italian entrepreneur Simone Chiarella. McDuffie, who is the artistic director of the festival, says on the festival's website, "I came to Rome on sabbatical in the fall of 2002. I discovered a true passion for the world's most beautiful city, and it was then that I started dreaming of inviting the world's greatest musicians to perform in the spectacular and historical venues that can be found in the Eternal City. The Festival includes at least one work of an American composer each year, but its identity adheres to a true international ideal by inviting musicians from all over the world."

A three-time Tony Award nominee for her performances in Kiss Me, Kate; Ragtime; and Passion, Marin Mazzie's other theatrical credits include Into the Woods, Big River, The World Goes 'Round, the City Center Encores! production of Out of this World and Off-Broadway's The Trojan Women: A love Story, where she met husband Jason Danieley. Mazzie also starred in the London production of Kiss Me, Kate, where she earned an Olivier Award nomination for her work.

The concerts will be held inside Italy's Gonfalone Oratory. For ticket information visit www.romechamberfestival.org.
