Sean McCourt (Titanic) will lead an evening of original songs with special guests Drew McVety (This Lime Tree Bower) and Clarke Thorell (Floyd Collins) Aug. 16 at Wilson's in New York City. McCourt will sing numbers from his debut CD, "Stick Figure Dancing," as well as new material.
All three singer-songwriters, McCourt, McVety and Thorell, met on Titanic in 1997. Since then, McCourt has gone on to perform his solo show Last Romeo at NY's Melting Pot and his two man piece, Ten Years Apart at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. McVety, finishing his stint as the drunk, womanizing Ray in This Lime Tree Bower, recently appeared as Matthew in Corpus Christi. He was nominated for an Outer Critics Circle Award for his compositions featured in the play. Thorell, who also performed on Broadway in Tommy, traveled as Homer Collins in the recent regional tour of Guettel-Landau's Floyd Collins.
Joining the three are band members keyboardist Dan Lipton and percussionist Shannon Ford. Lipton, a composer himself, will also debut tracks from his upcoming CD, "Travelogue," to be released this fall. Lipton is one half of the 20-something writing team that created the musical Joe! , read at Lamb's Theatre in March of 1999.
There is no cover charge with restaurant and bar seating available. For a table, reservations can be made by calling (212) 769-0100. Wilson's is located at 201 W. 79th Street at Amsterdam.
