Originally scheduled to conclude performances Jan. 16, 2011, the production will now continue through Jan. 23, according to the theatre's official website. (Mary Martello is currently playing the role of Miss Hannigan through Jan. 10, 2011.)
The cast also features Tori Heinlein as Annie and Paul Jackel as Daddy Warbucks.
A stand-up comic and writer, Sykes also co-starred in the sitcom "The New Adventures of Old Christine." Her other acting credits include "Back at the Barnyard," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Evan Almighty" and more. She is the winner of an American Comedy Award, a BET Comedy Award and is a multiple Emmy Award nominee.
Featuring a book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, Annie is based on the famed comic-strip character who begins an orphan and ends up the daughter of a billionaire. The original Broadway production opened in April 1977 and made a star out of its first Annie, Andrea McArdle, and won a Tony for its Miss Hannigan, the late Dorothy Loudon. The show also won the Tony Award for Best Musical.
