Tom Blunt and Roslyn Hart will host the 8 PM evening that will feature Cassandra Freeman performing selections from Bailey's memoirs. Meet the Lady will also feature rarely seen clips of Bailey performing on film and television. In addition, guests will be treated to snacks from Bailey's 1973 cookbook "Pearl's Kitchen: An Extraordinary Cookbook."
Bailey made her Broadway debut as Butterfly in the Harold Arlen musical St. Louis Woman in 1946. She went on to star in Arlen's House of Flowers and an all-African American revival of Jerry Herman's Hello, Dolly! in 1975. Her screen appearances include "Carmen Jones," "Porgy and Bess" and "St. Louis Blues."
