Playing twice nightly at 7 PM and 8:15 PM from Tuesdays to Fridays, with performances at 3 PM and 8 PM on Saturdays, the play is directed by Michael Colgan, artistic director of the Gate Theatre.

Gambon was last seen in the West End in Pinter's No Man's Land and another Beckett monologue, Eh Joe, both of which also originated at the Gate before transferring to the Duke of York's Theatre. Gambon was also due to star in the original National Theatre run of Alan Bennett's The Habit of Art but withdrew during rehearsals owing to ill-health. Other recent stage work includes more Pinter and Beckett - The Caretaker at the Comedy and Endgame at the Albery, now the Noel Coward, respectively. He is best known for starring as Professor Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films; other film and TV credits include "The Singing Detective," "Mary Reilly," "Gosford Park," "Angels in America," "Cranford" and "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover."

Colgan has been the artistic director of the Gate Theatre in Dublin for 27 years, during which time he produced four Pinter and six Beckett Festivals, which were subsequently seen throughout the world. He produced a critically acclaimed Brian Friel season in 2009 to mark the playwright’s eightieth birthday, which opened at the Sydney Festival in Australia before transferring to the Edinburgh Festival and subsequently the Gate Theatre.

Krapp's Last Tape was first seen at the Royal Court Theatre in October 1958. This Gate Theatre production will be produced in London by the Gate in association with Playful Productions.
