On Friday (January 5) at 8 p.m. Anthony Tommasini, the Times's chief classical music critic, interviews Fleming, Gelb and Sher in a TimesTalks program titled "Opera Innovators." On Saturday (January 6) at 4 p.m., in another TimesTalks event, recently retired Times dance critic John Rockwell interviews Mikhail Baryshnikov on his career and new role as arts impresario.
The weekend also features talks with literary figures, leading journalists, artists and musicians from all genres.
The Arts & Leisure Weekend was originally established in 2001 to mark the Times's 150th anniversary. Throughout the weekend, the paper partners with hundreds of cultural institutions in the U.S. and Europe to offer free admission, reduced prices and special events.
TimesTalks events take place at the CUNY Graduate Center, located at Fifth Avenue and 34th Street. Tickets are $25.
