News Miss America Heads to the "Broadway Spotlight" Nov. 3 The Broadway Spotlight Series, which presents concert evenings with stars of the Broadway stage, continues Nov. 3.

Former Miss America Kate Shindle, who portrayed Sally Bowles in the Broadway and national touring productions of Cabaret, will take centerstage at the Ars Nova Theater Sept. 8 at 8 PM. Shindle has entitled her show Me and My Shadow — Songs I've Heard in Pageants!

According to a release, the show will explore Shindle's life beyond pageants and will include songs by Frank Wildhorn as well as other Broadway favorites and jazz standards. Directed by Jen Bender, the evening will feature Ben Cohn on piano; Michael Sinclair is the musical director.

Past participants in the series include Les Miz’s Lauren Kennedy, Hairspray's Shoshana Bean, Into the Woods' Chad Kimball, Aida's Felicia Finley, former Rent-ers Anthony Rapp and Idina Menzel and Funny Girl's Leslie Kritzer.

Kate Shindle earned the title of Miss America in 1998. In addition to her work in Cabaret, Shindle has also appeared on Broadway as Lucy in Jekyll & Hyde.
