Blood Brothers opened at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto to mixed reviews. The musical was panned by the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail, and loved by the Toronto Sun. However, the audience on opening night loved it. They rose to their feet as one as the final words of dialogue were spoken. David Cassidy reprises his Broadway role as Mickey. Mark Hutchinson is Eddie, a role he played in the British production. Newcomer to theatre, but not to a stage, Amy Sky, one of Canada's leading new country/pop singers, is their mother. Michael Burgess, who played Jean Valjean for 30 months in this same theatre in Mirvish Productions Les Miserables is the narrator.
The show is scheduled to run 14 weeks.
