Six performer-moms have collaborated on Mom's The Word, a play about the "good, bad and ugly" side of motherhood. The show opens the Globe Theatre's 1996-97 Satellite Series, Jan. 8-12.
Featured in the show are "touching, vivid tales of giving birth to a premature baby...[as well as] ribald stories of diaper soup and sex after children." The play was written by Linda A. Carson, Jill Daum, Alison Kelly, Robin Nichol, Barbara Pollard and Deborah Williams. Daum, Kelly, Nichol, Pollard and Williams appear in the piece, along with Joan Maclean.
The idea behind the Satellite Series is to present "cutting-edge comedy and drama...stretching the boundaries of modern theatre with new and innovative works by exciting Canadian artists and playwrights."
Stage managing the piece, which ran at the Belfry Theatre in Victoria, will be Kate Wallace.
