Classic Arts News Montreal Symphony to Return With Performance at Football Game The Montreal Symphony will make its first public appearance since the end of its five-month musicians' strike at a football game on October 22.
The orchestra will perform the Canadian national anthem at the final regular-season home game of the Montreal Alouettes, a member of the Canadian Football League. According to the Alouettes' web site, music director Kent Nagano will conduct.

The MSO resumes its regular schedule with a performance under Nagano at the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier on October 23.

The MSO musicians signed a new seven-year contract this week, ending a strike that began on May 9. They agreed to more flexible work rules in exchange for a 17 percent pay raise.
