News Morning Has Broken Reading, with Beck, Cummings and Steele, Presented Feb. 1 A by-invitation-only reading of Matte O'Brien's new play, Morning Has Broken, will be presented Feb. 1 at the Kirk Theatre in Manhattan.

Rope Swing Entertainment and Lee Ann Gullie are presenting the 3 PM reading, which boasts the talents of Cassie Beck (Prayer for My Enemy, Drunken City) as Mary, Patrick Cummings (Happiness, White Noise) as Joe and Lucas Steele (Threepenny Opera, Oliver Twist) as Gabriel. Adam Fitzgerald directs. Described as "a biting story of faith, religion, love, loyalty, country and conscience," Morning Has Broken concerns "Joe, [who], returning from service in Iraq, sublets a room in Mary's apartment. Their divergent world views seem to bring them closer together - that is - until a ghost from Joe's past comes knocking."

The Kirk Theatre, Theatre Row Studios is located at 410 West 42nd Street in Manhattan.
