"1600 Penn" is co-created by Gad, who was also a writer for "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," as well as "Modern Family" director Jason Winer and Jon Lovett, former speechwriter for President Barack Obama.
NBC has picked up the pilot for the single-camera comedy, which is produced by 20th Century Fox TV. Winer will direct the pilot that he executive produces along with Gad and Lovett.
Gad is also at work on another NBC comedy about a family on the road. He executive produces that project, which is developed by Universal TV and Gary Sanchez, the production company operated and founded by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay.
He will appear in the upcoming film "Thanks for Sharing," starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Mark Ruffalo and Tim Robbins.
