News New Cast Announced for Sound of Music National Tour Jill-Christine Wiley and Mike McLean will co-star in the production that re-launches September 1 in Yakima, Washington.

Casting has been announced for the new non-equity tour of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music, which will launch at the Capitol Theatre in Yakima, Washington September 1–3.

The cast will be led by Jill-Christine Wiley as Maria Rainer, Mike McLean as Captain Georg von Trapp, Lauren Kidwell as Mother Abbess, Jake Mills as Max Detweiler, Melissa McKamie as Elsa Schraeder, Keslie Ward as Liesl, and Chad P. Campbell as Rolf Gruber.

The von Trapp children are played by Landon Brimacombe (Friedrich), Arick Brooks (Kurt), Katie Grgecic (Brigitta), Madeleine Guilbot (Gretl), Maya Karp (Louisa), and Amaryllis C. Miller (Marta).

Completing the cast are Caleb Adams, Colten Blair, Sarah Brackett, Jeff Brooks, Randy Charleville, Mackenzie Dade, Danielle Guilbot, Stephanie Gray, Danielle Lee James, Allison Macri, Nicholas Newman, Adam Ross, Isaac Ryckeghem, Thanos Skouteris, Christina Tompkins, Ariana Valdes, and Melissa Weyn.

The non-equity relaunch of the production is based on the 2015 national tour, which was originally directed by Jack O’Brien and choreographed by Danny Mefford. Matt Lenz and Jonathan Warren recreate their work respectively, for the new tour. Music supervision is by Andy Einhorn.

The design and production team comprises Douglas Schmidt, set design; Jane Greenwood, costume design; Natasha Katz, lighting design; and Shannon Slaton, sound design. Casting is by Stewart/Whitley.

The Sound of Music has music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, and is suggested by The Trapp Family Singers by Maria Augusta Trapp.
