Based on Todd Haynes’ 2002 film starring Julianne Moore, Far from Heaven features music by Tony Award nominee Scott Frankel (Grey Gardens), lyrics by Tony Award nominee Michael Korie (Grey Gardens) and a book by Tony winner Richard Greenberg (Take Me Out).
Far From Heaven, according to press notes, revolves around "Cathy Whitaker, who seems to be the picture-perfect wife and mother in 1957 suburban Connecticut. But roiling beneath the surface, secret longings and forbidden desires cause her world to unravel, with incendiary consequences."
R&H president Ted Chapin said in a statement, “We are honored to continue our relationship with Scott and Michael, whose score of Grey Gardens has been with us since the show opened in 2006. Adding Richard Greenberg to the mix is great and we feel we can give Far From Heaven a good home.”
In a joint statement, the authors said, “We are overjoyed that Far From Heaven has found a berth at Imagem Music/R&H Theatricals, which puts us in very fine company, indeed! It is a real thrill to know that the show will have a full and rich life at theaters all across the country.”
The musical is available for Professional Theatrical licensing for performances beginning Sept. 1. For more information visit www.rnh.com or contact the professional licensing division at (212) 699-6523 or [email protected].
