Featuring a score by George Griggs and a book by Griggs and Paul Andrew Perez, Heat Lightning is inspired by the myth of "Cephalus and Procris" — from Ovid's "Metamorphoses" — and concerns the story of an Elvis-obsessed wannabe rock star who finds himself in an extramarital affair, which eventually leads to an explosive climax.

Directed by Jeremy Dobrish (The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, abridged), the staging opens March 5 and continues to April 20 at the Kirk, within the Theatre Row complex on West 42nd Street.

Others in the cast include Laura Marie Duncan, Sean Fri, Nicolette Hart, Jackie Seiden, Will Swenson and Jennifer Waldman.

The creative team comprises Leo T. Van Allen (set design), Thom Weaver (lighting design), David A. Arnold (sound design), Rachel Attridge (costume design) and Tesha Buss (choreography).

Presented by Steve Griggs, Heat Lightning plays 8 PM Tuesday-Saturday, 3 PM Saturdays and Sundays. The Kirk Theatre is located at 410 West 42nd Street. Tickets, priced at $45, are available by calling (212) 279 4200 or by going on-line to www.ticketcentral.com. (Subject to availability, $20 student rush tickets are available at the Theatre Row box office, two hours before show time.)
