The Boston Landmarks Orchestra, led by conductor Charles Ansbacher, will launch a new festival this summer to be held at the Hatch Shell on Boston's Esplanade.

The festival will include eight Wednesday evenings of music, opera and dance outdoors, featuring the Landmarks Orchestra and other local organizations, which will be announced at a later date.

The Landmarks Orchestra was founded in January 2001 to perform free concerts "celebrating historical, geographical and architectural settings." Founding director Charles Ansbacher has led free concerts in the parks of Colorado Springs, concert halls in Vienna and in economically troubled countries across Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
