As part of the three-week intensive, BTP's apprentices will workshop Wildhorn's contemporary retelling of the classic Lewis Carroll tale "Alice in Wonderland." Wildhorn's fiancé, and "Passions" regular, Brandi Burkhardt, will play the title role.
Although the workshop isn't open to the public, the intensive culminates with a public performance entitled Musicals… The Old and the New. The latter incorporates past and present Broadway productions as well as selections from the aforementioned Wildhorn projects Alice and Havana.
Under the artistic direction of Deb McWaters, 2007 Broadway Theatre Project faculty members include Ben Vereen, Dave Clemmons, Grady Bowman, Darren Lorenzo, Jeff Shade and Herman Payne, among others.
Musicals… The Old and the New will be presented July 28 at 3 and 8 PM in Ferguson Hall at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, in Tampa Bay, FL. Tickets may be purchased by calling (813) 229-7827 or through Ticketmaster.com.
* Now in its 17th year, the Broadway Theatre Project has provided young artists with hands-on training from some of Broadway's finest talents, including John Kander, Ann Reinking, Jason Robert Brown, Charlotte D'Amboise, Rob Fisher, Terrence Mann, Austin Pendleton, Chita Rivera and Patrick Wilson, among others.
