These Wondertwins are not the cartoon Super Friends that were a part of the Justice League, but they are performers in a league of their own. The duo of multi-faceted artists perform their The New Wondertwins in Sparklevision at the downtown mecca Performance Space 122. The production opened April 5 and will close as scheduled April 14.
The New Wondertwins, better known as Rebecca Finnegan and Susan Blackwell offer their brand of "anti-sketch comedy" fun under the direction of Gary Schwartz. The production which mixes musical numbers, dance, stunts, character sketches, and NPR-like documentaries, will also feature The Sparklevision Dancers and The Sparklevision Orchestra.
Christopher Jones composes and musically directs the show, with choreography by Tom Schultheis. Costumes are designed by Chase Tyler and lighting by Frank DenDanto III.
You may have seen The New Wondertwins at many venues including East of 8th, Caroline's Comedy Club, The Tunnel, The Duplex and Space 32. The two, who cite the June Taylor Dancers, 60s TV specials and Las Vegas showmanship as their influences, have also hosted P.S. 122's Avant-Garde-Arama series for the last two seasons.
