Classic Arts News New York Philharmonic Presents Free Memorial Day Concert The New York Philharmonic will present its annual free Memorial Day concert tonight at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
For the second straight year, the concert will be conducted by associate conductor Xian Zhang. The program includes the overture to Verdi's La forza del destino and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5.

The concert begins at 8 p.m.; seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Because of restoration work taking place at the west end of the cathedral, the performance will take place at the restored east end, and seating is limited. Once the cathedral seating is full, concertgoers will be directed to the Synod Hall near the cathedral, where the performance will be simulcast on a large video screen.

If weather permits, concertgoers may also gather outdoors at the Pulpit Green, where music will be heard through a speaker system.

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine is located at Amsterdam Avenue and 112th Street.
