TheatreWorks founding artistic director Robert Kelley will direct the production that officially opens April 10 and runs through May 9. Christopher Sergel penned the dramatic adaptation of the novel.
In addition to Newfield (Broadway's The Royal Family, Waiting for Godot, Tartuffe), the cast will feature newcomer Sierra Stephens as Scout, Kevin Blackton as Nathan Radley and Mr. Gilmer, Anne Buelteman (Les Miserables) as Miss Crawford, L. Peter Callender (Julie Taymor's "The Tempest") as Reverend Sykes, Nancy Carlin as Miss Maudie, Blythe Foster as Mayella Ewell, Rod Gnapp as Bob Ewell, Gabriel Hoffman as Dill, Phoebe Moyer as Ms. Dubose, Cathleen Riddley as Calpurnia, Michael Ray Wisely as Heck Tate and Howard Swain as Judge Taylor, Mr. Cunningham and Boo Radley.
To Kill a Mockingbird, according to TheatreWorks, "is the story of tomboy Scout Finch and her older brother Jem as they come face to face with harsh realities in the Deep South. When a black man is accused on little evidence of assaulting a white woman, Scout’s father, lawyer Atticus Finch, stands for justice in the shadow of overwhelming racism in an utterly engaging tale of heartache and joy, innocence and integrity."
The production will have scenic design by Andrea Bechert, costume design by Allison Connor, lighting design by Steve Mannshardt and sound design by Cliff Caruthers. Kimily Conkle serves as dialect coach, and Richard Lane is fight director.
