News   Nina Kristofferson to Bring One-Woman Show The Billie Holiday Story to London's Charing Cross Theatre Actress, singer and writer Nina Kristofferson will bring her one-woman show The Billie Holiday Story to London's Charing Cross Theatre, beginning performances April 1 for an eight-week season through June 1.

She has previously presented the show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2011 and subsequently toured the U.K. in 2012. According to press materials, this musical play is a cocktail of songs and stories from Billie Holiday's life woven through the haunting memories that plagued her, featuring her greatest hits, including "God Bless The Child," "Lover Man," "Strange Fruit," "Don't Explain," "All of Me" and many more.

It is directed by Ben Woolf, with Allan Rogers as musical director and pianist.

Kristofferson has previously also played Holiday in I Cover the Waterfront - the Spirit of Billie Holiday in Nottingham. Other theatre credits include Medea for Northern Broadsides, Bess in Porgy and Bess in the USA, and Liz Imbrie in High Society (at the Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park and the West End).

In a press statement, she commented, "Billie's unusual timbre tells a story like no other jazz singer. Her phrasing and timing is heartfelt as she takes you on a journey which encapsulates her many influences including prostitution, the cops, doing time and the effects drugs had on her life. Her relationship with men, her work, the abuse she suffered by those who took advantage of her. What drove her and finally killed her."
